Training requirements for initial applications
S12(2) approval – applicants seeking initial S12(2) approval are required to attend a two day S12(2) induction course.
Approved clinicians (AC) approval – applicants seeking initial approval are required to attend a two day AC induction course.
Attendance at a course is only part of the approval process and a course certificate should not be used or accepted as evidence of approval.
Training requirements for renewal applications
S12(2) renewal – doctors who are S12(2) approved are required to attend a one day S12(2) refresher course within one year of the expiry date of their S12(2) approval.
AC renewal – approved clinicians are required to attend a one day AC refresher course within one year of the expiry date of their AC approval.
For AC medical doctors, who also who have S12(2) approval, attendance of an AC refresher course will also automatically renew S12(2) approval. There is not a requirement to attend two separate courses.
