Annual General and Members’ Meeting 2023
Our Annual General and Members’ Meeting will be held on Thursday 23 November 2023 at Darlington Arena, Neasham Rd, Darlington, DL2 1DL.
In addition to presenting the Trust’s Annual Report and Accounts for the year ended 31 March 2023, it is an opportunity to hear about our plans, performance and ambitions for the future. This year’s theme will be Patient Safety and we will be giving an update on the work that is being done to improve this as part of Our Journey to Change.
Speakers will give presentations from 3pm with the event due to finish at 5pm. We will also be broadcasting this event online live for those who are unable to attend in person. A marketplace of information, highlighting the work of some of our Trust’s services and teams, will also be available to visit from 1pm.
To register to attend this event please send you name and contact email to tewv.enquiries@nhs.net by Monday 20 November. Those registering for the event in person will not need an invitation on the day. Online invitations will be issued from Tuesday 21 November. Online broadcast is from 3pm only.

Speakers
Dawn Jessop is an RMN and recently undertaken the role of Deputy Chief Nurse at Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust. She has clinical and operational experience across the NHS, 3rd Sector and independent health care services, including multiple healthcare functions; mental health, prisons, drug services, primary care. She has a particular passion for mindfulness, leadership, patient safety and systemic healthcare change.
Danny Angus is the Associate Director for the National HOPE(S) NHSE Collaborative at Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust.
He is a mental health nurse by background but has spent several years working to reduce seclusion / long-term segregation and developing expertise to reduce distressed behaviour. He has implemented a No Force First approach across the organisation and changed systems and processes to support this approach.
Specialising in the proactive support of people with a diverse range of mental health needs, Danny has developed a range of recovery-based approaches and is co-author of the HOPE(S) Clinical Model of Care to reduce long term segregation which has been developed and implemented across health and justice settings nationally. Danny has also worked as a consultant for the World Health Organisation, delivering training and implementing service improvement in countries across Europe to reduce restrictive practice and seclusion. Danny is an advocate for using co-production with people who use services to transform care and service delivery.
Stephanie Carr is a dual qualified Speech and Language Therapist and Behaviour Practitioner. Working for TEWV for over 14 years, most recently as the Clinical Service Lead for Positive Behavioural Support in Adult Learning Disability Services (North Yorkshire and York), she is currently on secondment to the National HOPE(S) Team. Her role with the National HOPE(S) Team focuses on the reduction and ending of Long-Term Segregation for Autistic Individuals and People with Learning Disabilities.
Karla Sharif, Associate Nurse Consultant for Adult Learning Disabilities Inpatient Services and trainee Approved Clinician. She started within the learning disability service 24 years ago as a Health Care Assistant. She loves working within the learning disability service and is passionate in leading services to improve the quality of life for people who have a learning disability.
Mark Allan is the Trustwide Peer Lead, a leadership role within the peer work structures in the Trust. Since initially joining the Trust as an involvement member many years ago, Mark has worked alongside others with lived experience to advocate for and develop lived experience roles. He’s proud to be associated with the lived experience individuals and communities (and our allies) that work to develop our peer work. He believes services that truly meet people’s needs can only be developed through meaningfully embedding lived experience in everything services do.

Due to the rise in COVID-19 and winter flu numbers across our region, we made the decision to hold this meeting virtually as a MS Teams Live Event.
