ADHD assessments for CAMHS in York take place at Orca House.
What happens when a young person has been referred?
Step 1
- An initial 30-minute call with the Single Point of Access (SPA) team
- Forms are sent to be completed by families or carers and school if more information needed
Step 2
- Information is reviewed by multi-disciplinary neuro screening panel to decide if further specialist diagnostic assessment is appropriate or not
- Families are informed of the panel decision by letter
Step 3
- If an ADHD assessment is required, the young person is added to waiting list and invited to attend the assessment clinic
- Due to an increase in referral rates, there is a significant wait for Autism and ADHD assessments within CAMHS
Step 4
- An ADHD assessment will include an assessment with parents and carers and a school observation (for primary aged children – and occasionally for secondary school aged young people)
- All assessments are discussed and reviewed in a monthly multi-disciplinary meeting
