We have become one of the first in England to receive a national award for supporting specialist, associate specialist and specialty (SAS) doctors.

The SAS Excellence in Development (SEiD) Recognition Award, led by NHS England, recognises organisations that provide outstanding support, development, and career progression opportunities for SAS doctors.
We have around 80 SAS doctors working across our services.
They are senior clinicians who play a vital role in caring for our patients, supporting clinical teams, and taking on leadership, teaching and training roles.
We support SAS doctors through training, career development, leadership opportunities, wellbeing events, mentoring and supporting doctors moving to the UK from overseas.

Our SAS colleagues working across TEWV shared their views on what it is like to work here.
Dr Satyam Kishore, acting consultant psychiatrist and portfolio tutor, said: “The trust has made supporting international medical colleagues a priority. The induction, orientation and ongoing support help them settle into work and life in the UK.”
Acting consultant psychiatrist, Dr Samet Kurnaz, who joined TEWV through the international fellowship programme, said: “The support for international and SAS doctors has helped me develop professionally and progress in my career.
“The opportunities available show TEWV’s commitment to helping doctors achieve their full potential.”
I am delighted that TEWV has received the SAS Excellence in Development (SEiD) Recognition Award. This award recognises the value we place on our SAS doctors, who make a significant contribution to our trust every day. Their skill, commitment and experience are central to the care we provide. They play a crucial role in supporting our patients, our services and our clinical teams.
Dr Kedar Kale, medical director
Colleagues who helped develop support for SAS doctors across the trust collected the Silver Award at a ceremony in London.
