Beating the January blues is a challenge faced by almost half of all UK workers – but specialist support is available if needed.
Low mood, feeling tired and losing interest in favourites hobbies are among the most widely reported issues related to the winter woes.
Financial struggles following Christmas, feelings of isolation after festive gatherings and rising prices can all add to the problem too.
But for health workers in our region, as well as emergency services personnel and social care workers, specialist help is at hand.
Free confidential support
Humber and North Yorkshire Resilience Hub offers a wide range of wellbeing and psychological support – and you can even self-refer.
“Our staff are trained mental health professionals with extensive experience of working with people who have experienced traumatic and distressing events,” said a spokesperson.
“Our team can offer access to quick and confidential 1-to-1 support, group or team support to staff and families living or working in the Humber and North Yorkshire region.”
Help is at hand

“This is designed to maintain and improve the wellbeing and physical and mental health of staff by providing a range of self-help resources, with the tools to build healthy, positive habits into your everyday lives,” said the spokesperson.
“A series of weekly posts provide wellbeing advice and support; and our self-help catalogue gives you the tools at your fingertips to help manage your wellbeing positively.
