We have announced a brand new 5k running event – the TEWV 5k.
After the success of the inaugural TEWV 10k in 2024, we have introduced a new, shorter distance into our running calendar within the unique setting of HMP Kirklevington Grange Prison in Stockton-on-Tees.
Set to take place on Sunday 9 March, the course is perfect for beginners or those looking for a training run ahead of the TEWV 10k, which we expect to return in the spring.
The TEWV 5k will offer a shorter distance over a flat course starting outside the prison, with participants completing three laps.
Emma Brookshaw, a modern matron at our Trust and organiser of the event, said: “Last year we were the first NHS Trust in the region, and we believe the country, to organise and stage our own 10k run. In 2025, we wanted to expand our offer to include a shorter distance and a new location, ideal for new runners or those wanting to take on a new year challenge.
“We have a passion for wellbeing in our Trust and this unique event is available to anyone – you don’t have to be an NHS employee.”
TEWV 5k is open to people of all running abilities and the entry fee will go towards the staging of the event.
