On Wednesday 18 June, staff members and service users from the Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) teams met up for the first time to participate in team building activities in the lead up to this year’s Voyage to Recovery.

As part of their team building activities the group visited River Tees Water sports centre and enjoyed a day out on the Dragon Boat.
Jodi McQueeney, an EIP advanced practitioner in our Trust, said: “The goal of the day was for participants of the 2025 Voyage to Recovery sailing trip to meet face-to-face to help reduce anxieties and increase team spirit before the big sail.

“It was a fantastic day, the sun was shining, everyone was having fun and connecting with each other, promoting good teamwork. One participant commented that he was feeling anxious about going on a sailing boat for five nights with a group of strangers, but after today he’s so excited and looking forward to it.”
The Voyage to Recovery sailing trip, facilitated by the Cirdan Sailing Trust, is part of a unique approach to working with young people and adults who have experienced psychosis by using adventure therapy.
The therapy has been proven to help support people on their recovery journey – by offering opportunities for growth and self-development through challenging activities.
This year the team will be setting sail from Peterhead in Scotland on Saturday 19 July and will finish in Hartlepool on Wednesday 23 July.

EIP teams from all over the country take part in the challenge and this is the fifth year that TEWV EIP teams have taken part along-side the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) accreditation.
We will be keeping up to date on their swash-buckling adventure so keep an eye out for more updates…
