Hundreds of people descended on the Knavesmire at York Racecourse on Sunday 26 April for our annual TEWV 10k.
This was the third staging of our very own 10k and fun run, and saw people of all ages and abilities walk, jog and run their way around the flat course – with some raising money for causes close to their heart.
Lindsey Welburn was the 10k’s first female over the finish line in 40 minutes and 8 seconds.
The first male was Logan MacNamara, from Craven Energy Tri Club in Skipton, who finished in 34 minutes and 44 seconds.
17-year-old Logan is a member of the Great Britain Age Group Triathlon, regularly taking part in under 20’s sprint triathlons.
Last year he was one of the youngest competitors in his category at the Europe Triathlon Age-Group Championships in Instanbul – taking 7th place.
He said, “I enjoyed this run a lot. It was a nice flat course. I felt good on it when I set off, paced myself well, got a decent gap and settled in.
“Sprint triathlons are so different to running a 10k – the pacing is so different. With a 5k I can go out a bit harder and hold it for a bit longer.”
Chris Browning, from York, completed the TEWV Fun Run and the TEWV 10k run as the final leg of his virtual London Marathon, in aid of the Delta Goodrem Foundation – having raised over £1,000 for the singer’s charity since 2023.
He said: “This year I’m doing three marathons for the Delta Goodrem Foundation. She got cancer when she 18 and number 1 in the charts.
“I’ve been a fan of her music since the start and I’m old enough to remember buying the cassettes.
“She set up a foundation in 2020 as a thank you to the hospital that helped her and it’s been going from strength to strength ever since.
“I set off at 6.45am this morning from my house. I’ve been around Skelton, Clifton, around the university and purposely finished here to do the last 12km.
“I enjoy this event and the crowd is fantastic. The participants and volunteers too – we couldn’t do it without you.”
Emma Brookshaw, race director and a modern matron in our trust, said: “This is our third TEWV 10k and it’s been another brilliant event.
“We organise this event ourselves and we’re proud to bring together our colleagues, the public and the running community for a great day in the wonderland city of York.”
