Philosophy of care
The Kestrel / Kite team are committed to safe and kind care and adopt a holistic approach to care, based on the needs of every individual.
Staff closely assess the mental health, behaviours and communication needs of the people in our care, to identify the most appropriate treatment pathways for them and their recovery. They also make sure things are communicated in a way that each patient understands best.
Our ward activities help patients to develop life, social and therapeutic skills and we also address physical well-being through regular health checks, promoting healthy diets and regular exercise.
Daily routine
Kestrel and Kite wards have a seven-day activity programme and our ward staff arrange and plan additional ward-based activities for each day. Ward activities are planned to help develop, maintain and enhance the skills of the patients on our ward.
We have a motivational meeting each day and staff will let you know of any important information and discuss if you can plan any leave for the day.
Meals and drinks
We provide three meals per day, always with a variety of choice. The weekly menus are on display in the dining room and alternate each week. You are also able to have your own snacks.
If you have any special dietary requirements (such as diabetic, vegetarian or cultural) we will inform the catering service.
The ward operates protected mealtimes, to make sure you have your meal with limited disruption. We therefore ask that professionals and carers avoid contacting the ward at mealtimes where possible.
