We provide Autism assessments and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) assessments across Durham, Teesside, York and Selby.
In parts of North Yorkshire, Autism assessments are done by acute hospital trusts or BeU. You can read more about this below.
At what age can I have an Autism assessment?
Children aged 5 and under:
- assessments are mainly completed by paediatric colleagues at acute hospital trusts.
Children and young people aged 5 to 18:
- our CAMHS teams complete assessments, except in Scarborough, Harrogate, Hambleton and Richmondshire.
- in Harrogate, Hambleton and Richmondshire assessments are completed by paediatric colleagues at acute hospital trusts. Read more about the Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust’s Children’s Autism Assessment Service.
- in Scarborough assessments are completed by BeU.
Older young people, aged 17 plus:
- you may be assessed in our adult services.
At what age can I have an Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) assessment?
An assessment of ADHD can be considered but a possible diagnosis will not usually be confirmed until a child is 6 years old and has started school.
