What is Children’s Mental Health Week?
Children’s Mental Health Week is a mental health awareness week that was launched by children’s mental health charity, Place2Be. It’s celebrated to empower, equip and give a voice to all children and young people in the UK.
What was this year’s theme?
This year the theme was ‘Know Yourself, Grow Yourself’. It was about encouraging children and young people to discover how getting to know who they are can help them build resilience, grow and develop.
What took place across our trust?
Inspiring activities took place across our trust (3 to 9 February) for children and young people, and parents and carers who are accessing our CAMHS teams, including:

- Coffee and chat drop-in and wellbeing resources at North End House, Durham
- Seed planting and plant pot decorating at North End House, Durham, The Ridings, Redcar and Orca House, York
- Young people answering reflective questions on a leaf and adding to the Know Yourself, Grow Yourself tree at The Ridings, Redcar
- Positive affirmation mirror in staff and patient toilets at The Ridings, Redcar
- Know Yourself, Grow Yourself tree display with the theme of resilience with the Getting Help Team (Teesside)
- ‘What would you look like as a plant?’ art competition with the Getting Help Team (Teesside)
- Patient’s Know Yourself, Grow Yourself banner at Lake House, Scarborough
- Seed and plant swap at Lake House, Scarborough
- Self-help resources focusing on self-care and growth at Orca House, York
- Daily Wellbeing Ambassador assemblies focusing on 5 ways of wellbeing with the Wellbeing in Mind Team (York)
