Part of a 5 man team organised by Communitea, a mental health charity in Selby, they drove to Stalowa Wola in Southeastern Poland to deliver aid to a Ukrainian refugee reception centre for Children with disabilities. This convoy would not have been possible without the help of John Venables, Communitea charity founder, organiser and driver.
Speaking about the journey, Gary said: “I am privileged to have been able to contribute my small effort to support the people of Ukraine. I have described it as a 100 hour journey – we drove for 80 hours, slept for 8, sailed for 4, and I squandered the other 8 hours. Despite some bad weather, a delayed ferry and a broken wing mirror, the trip was without any mishaps!”
Thank you Gary and Teri, for going above and beyond to make this special journey!
