We were ranked as the number 1 trust in the North East for the 6th consecutive year (2015-2021, there was no survey in 2020), and this was the second time we were the number 1 provider in both regions (2019 & 2021). The trust was also ranked 8th in the UK overall.
The GMC national training survey (NTS) is the largest annual survey of doctors in the UK. Trainees share their views on their training and the environments where they work, and trainers report their experience as clinical and/or educational supervisors.
The trust provides four-month rotations to foundation doctors from local acute trusts as well as six-monthly psychiatry placements for GP trainees. Every year, approximately 300 doctors rotate through the trust on placement in psychiatry.
Dr Hany El Sayeh, director of medical education at TEWV said: “These survey results put us at the forefront of medical education in the region and once again we are proud of our performance, on both a regional and national level.
“We have a strong facility of medical education in the trust that supports hundreds of medical students and junior doctors on their career journey, providing them with a solid foundation in mental health care.
“As a Trust we aim to recruit, develop and retain a skilled, compassionate and motivated workforce that can provide an excellent service and care to our service users. We hope that by achieving such impressive results greater numbers of junior doctors and health care professionals will choose to join our Trust on a permanent basis when they have completed their training”.
