The outstanding work of everyone at the Scarborough Vaccination Hub in providing covid vaccinations for all healthcare staff has been recognised with a Star Award.
Anna Anderson-Hawkes, a retired registered mental health nurse, was part of the team working with Trust partners at the hub. After 20 years’ service in the Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust acute hospital liaison team at Scarborough Hospital, she came out of retirement to help vaccinate staff so they could continue to provide care.
Anna, one of the main vaccinators, worked alongside volunteers including retired and part-time nurses, matrons, medics, pharmacy, IT and administration staff from September 2021 until March 2022.
The team worked with passion and ambition to deliver the best possible service to health and care staff, vulnerable patients and undergraduate health professional students in the area. All trust staff were amazing in supporting the whole vaccination campaign. We’re incredibly grateful to those that helped, came out of retirement and worked over and above their normal day jobs. The team at the hub have been amazing! It would have been difficult for me to get the vaccine if it wasn’t for these people and services at the hospital” added one colleague who visited the hub. All the nurses there were great, happy and very helpful! I am so very pleased that I attended the clinic and got the most passionate care from this team.
