Our Durham Tees Valley listening service will be switching to a new telephone number on Thursday 25 January 2024.
The new number will be 0800 046 1313.
Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the service offers emotional support for adults aged 18 and over living in Teesside, Durham and Darlington.
Staffed by experienced NHS mental health crisis professionals, the listening service offers a safe space to talk, confidential emotional support, information and advice.

When does the number change?
The new number will come into effect from Thursday 25 January 2024.
Is the number still free?
Yes, calls are free from a landline or mobile phone.
Is it still available 24 hours a day?
Yes, it’s available 24/7, every day.
Who can call the number?
Anyone aged 18 and over who lives in Teesside, Durham and Darlington.
What happens when I call?
You can speak directly to one of our experienced NHS mental health staff and receive immediate and confidential emotional support.
Can I still call if I’m deaf or have difficulty hearing?
Yes, you can access the listening service via 18001 prefix or Relay UK.
What happens if I ring the old number?
You will still get through to the listening service for a while. We will place a message on the telephone system to tell people that there is a new number they can call.
Why is it changing?
The listening service has been sharing its phone number with the crisis line. It will be switching to a dedicated 0800 number as the crisis line prepares to transfer to NHS 111 very soon.
