“The finance team have been exceptional mentors and have truly changed William’s life for the better.”

Only 4.8% of people with a learning disability and/or autism who are known to local authorities go on to secure paid employment, compared to 80% of their peers.
In 2022 the Department for Education made a commitment to double the number of supported internship opportunities to 4,500 per year in England by March 2025.
Supported internships is a work-based study programme for 16-24 year olds with special educational needs, disabilities and autism that can help kickstart a young person’s career.
Our finance team have been working in partnership with NHS England Choices College to support William, a young person on placement.
William’s life has been transformed. He completed travel training so he could get to his placement independently, he has gained administrative skills and most importantly expanded his social engagement and feels he is part of something positive. The increase in his self-esteem and confidence has led William to apply for a business administration apprenticeship. Well done, William!
NHS England provider Choices College is a specialist college providing tailored educational support and supported internship courses.
