NHS professionals across Teesside have joined forces to host information events across Teesside for Learning Disability Week (17 – 23 June).
The events will provide local people with learning disabilities, or those caring for or supporting someone with a learning disability, the opportunity to find out more about local support and services.
The events are being held in Hartlepool, Stockton on Tees, Middlesbrough and Redcar on the below dates.
- Monday 17 June, One Life Centre, Hartlepool, 10.30am – 12.30pm
- Tuesday 18 June, South Bank Library, Middlesbrough, 10am – 1pm
- Wednesday 19 June, Grenfell Club, Redcar, 10.0am – 12.20pm and Redcar Central Library, 1-3pm
- Friday 21 June, Stockton Central Library, 10.30am – 12.30pm
Social Prescribers from local GP practices, Health and Wellbeing coaches and the Learning Disability Enhanced Physical Health Care Team from Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust will be on hand at the events to answer questions.
There’ll also be the opportunity to find out more about learning disability annual health checks, reasonable adjustments for people with learning disabilities, health / hospital passports, as well as information and sessions about cancer awareness and staying safe in the sun.
Various activities and performances from local groups will also take place at each venue.
We want to take the opportunity to showcase and celebrate the many talents of people with a learning disability in our local areas, whilst also providing information and support to help people with learning disabilities challenge the barriers that they face.
