Tuesday 8 July 2025
Our focus remains on providing safe and kind care, continuously improving, and prioritising the health of our communities, in line with the 10-year health plan. We’ve made significant progress since launching Our Journey to Change in 2021 and have updated it to reflect our achievements and inform future plans. This is down to the hard work and dedication of our colleagues, alongside our partners, and through co-creation and involvement with patients and families.
We’re committed to making changes that meet the evolving needs of our community while keeping people at the heart of everything we do.
Some of the highlights include:
- An improved Care Quality Commission well-led inspection report
- Our work to include, engage and support carers
- A reduction in agency use and job vacancies
- The success of the Community Mental Health Transformation
- Being part of the largest clinical trial to combat loneliness and depression.
- We were the first Trust in the country to have a strategic lived experience leadership team
- The launch of NHS 111 (select mental health option 2)
- Increasing our peer support workforce by 600%
We are committed to improving the experience of everyone we support and those we work with and alongside.
We also continue to have a strong focus on community. The progress we’ve made in delivering mental health support in our neighbourhoods fundamentally supports 10-year health plan, particularly around hospital to community and a focus on prevention rather than treatment.
The next chapter of Our Journey to Change
Over the last few months, we’ve taken time to reflect with our colleagues, people in our care, and their carers, and with our partners. This has given us a real understanding of how far we’ve come, which areas still need more work, and clarity on our future aims and ambitions.
This means that Our Journey to Change now looks and feels a little different…

We still have people at the heart of everything that we do, we are committed to providing safe and kind care and we are a values-led organisation. However, we’ve come a long way, there has been a lot of positive change and it’s important that our strategy reflects that.
We aren’t complacent. We are committed to continually improving and to make sure that we provide safe and kind care.
