The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has raised the rating of our community children and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) and published their report.
It follows an unannounced focused inspection to see whether improvements had been made since their last inspection of the service in December 2021.
They looked at the ‘safe’ category and have raised the rating from inadequate to requires improvement.
The regulators acknowledged where improvements had been made, including:
- The service was achieving its targets of maintaining contact with children and young people on waiting lists
- Premises were clean, well maintained and well furnished
- The senior management team responded promptly to address issues identified at the previous inspection
Brent Kilmurray, chief executive of Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, said: “This is a step in the right direction, and a testament to the hard work from our CAMHS community teams across the Trust.
“We know there is still work to do and more opportunities to improve the service. We will now focus on embedding the recommendations from the report to ensure that we provide the best care to the young people in our communities.”
