All TEWV staff need to be aware of the contents of this RIDDOR Procedure which refer to reportable injuries, notifiable diseases and dangerous occurrences which may occur within the Trust. There is a legal duty to report RIDDOR incidents to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) within a specified timescale. The purpose of this document is to provide guidance on the daily management of the ward ensuring the optimal staffing levels are met which meet the patients’ needs as determined by risk and level of acuity. Additionally, when planned staffing levels are insufficient to meet current patient needs from an increased demand due to patient acuity, that staff are clear about how to escalate this for support from senior nurses and managers in order to identify and redeploy human resources to maintain safety as and when necessary.
