Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust has announced that from Thursday 1 April 2021, West Lane Hospital will be renamed Acklam Road Hospital.
The Trust responded to a request from several families of young people who were inpatients at the Middlesbrough hospital, asking us to consider changing the name of the site
Brent Kilmurray, chief executive at the Trust, said: “The new name reflects the location of the hospital and provides a locally focused name that is relevant to the young people, families and carers who may use the services.
“The families who requested the name change were an integral part of the process and we have been committed to ensuring that they are satisfied with the outcome.
“We also involved young people who currently access our child and adolescent (CAMHS) community services on site, as well as holding sessions with our staff based on the site and local governors.”
CAMHS inpatient services will be restored next month. The interim provider will be Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust.
