A local artist is creating a mural of angelic healthcare workers on the entrance wall to Ridgeway at Roseberry Park in Middlesbrough, in celebration of today’s International Nurses Day.
Staff were delighted when Drew Allan, of Drew’s Wonder Walls, started work on his latest creation which features healthcare professionals sporting wings and with hearts in their hands; recognising the amazing work of mental health and learning disabilities staff during the current pandemic.
Entitled ‘All in this together’, the stunning graffiti-style artwork which is yet to be completed, is one of many murals Drew has produced in the local area to celebrate the NHS and those who work for it.
Lisa Taylor, director of operations for forensic services at TEWV, said: “We are delighted that Drew has chosen to shine a light on the work of mental health and learning disabilities staff during this challenging time.
“Our staff across the Trust are responding to an unprecedented situation and are often working under challenging circumstances which may include caring for those with COVID 19, adapting to changes in working practice or implementing service changes in response to the pandemic.
“The artwork is a fitting tribute to the dedication, care and compassion they demonstrate each day and is an inspiring reminder of the difference they are making.
“We would like to thank Drew for giving up his time and sharing his skills to create this amazing display as well as those at James Paul Services Ltd. who donated the boards on which the mural is painted. The generosity people have shown to the Trust and our staff has been incredible.”
