The Teesside Crisis Assessment Suite (CAS) has been shortlisted at this year’s Health Service Journal (HSJ) Patient Safety Awards.
What are the HSJ Patient Safety Awards
The HSJ Patient Safety Awards recognises and acknowledges the hard-working teams and individuals across the UK who strive to deliver improvements in safety, culture and positive experiences in patient care.
The Crisis Assessment Suite (CAS) was one of just 200 organisations to be shortlisted across 25 categories at this year’s award. The team were shortlisted in the Seni Lewis award category
About the Crisis Assessment Suite
Based at Roseberry Park Hospital in Middlesbrough, the suite is open 24 hours a day seven days a week, offering support to adults in a mental health crisis.
People who have an urgent mental health need can self-present to the suite. After carrying out an assessment, staff signpost or refer people to the most appropriate form of care to meet their needs. The service also takes internal referrals from other teams in the trust as well as police, ambulance and A&E.
Sarah Kuster, Service Manager for Teesside Crisis service said: “The team work tirelessly to provide the best possible care and support for those in crisis across Teesside. To be shortlisted for such a high-profile award is real recognition for everyone involved in the service.”
Helen Embleton, Urgent Care Pathways Lead in the Trust said: ‘The CAS offers an alternative option to those who require timely mental health support. This supports the national ambition for more comprehensive crisis pathways that can meet people’s needs and preferences for accessing crisis care.”
When will the winner be announced
