Bev, who has been a Non-Executive Director at the Trust since 2019, and Deputy Chair since September 2022, has agreed to cover the role from 12 May 2025 whilst the recruitment for a new Trust Chair get underway.
A nurse for over 30 years, Bev has a wealth of knowledge and experience as former Director of Nursing and Quality for NHS England covering Cumbria and the North East. Her long career has spanned a number of organisations across acute, primary and community care settings at a local, regional and national level. She is experienced in quality assurance and regulatory requirements having led on this as part of her role within NHS England and close working with NHS Improvement and the Care Quality Commission.
Patrick Scott, interim chief executive, said: “I am very grateful to Bev for stepping into this role, bringing her vast expertise and in-depth understanding of mental health services and working at Board level. I welcome the opportunity to work more closely with her over the coming months.”
Bev added: “Providing good quality patient care is incredibly important to me, I’ve been privileged to see firsthand just how committed our staff are to improving our services and the experience of those who use our services, which I’m extremely grateful for.
“I’m looking forward to getting out and about and meeting more staff, patients, carers and volunteers, and working with partners in our communities who all support and contribute our improvement journey.”
The Trust’s Council of Governors are responsible for appointing the chair and Bev’s appointment was formalised at the latest Governors’ meeting. The Interim Chair will be in post for up to six months.
