TEWV has been declared most improved for staff working there in an annual NHS staff survey.
Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV) was rated top in ‘overall positive score change’ for staff experience out of the 25 NHS mental health trusts that commissioned the Picker Institute to undertake the survey for 2022.
The NHS Staff Survey is one of the largest workforce surveys in the world and is carried out to improve staff experiences across the NHS.
The survey is owned by NHS England and has been conducted every year since 2003.
TEWV launched their organisation-wide Journey to Change in 2021 which outlined the type of trust it wants to become.
‘Our Journey to Change’ also highlights the 3 big goals for the trust of improving the experiences of: patients, their families and carers; staff at the Trust; and partners of the Trust.
Sarah Dexter-Smith, director of people and culture at Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust commented:
“We’re very proud to have been identified as the most improved NHS mental health trust in the national 2022 NHS staff survey.
“The results demonstrate that the changes we’ve been making are improving our staff’s working lives.
“However, there are definitely some things we need to work on and we’ll be using the results from the 2022 survey to continue to build change together across our trust.”
TEWV were ranked 15 out of 25 for overall positive score compared to all the mental health trusts that commissioned the Picker Institute to undertake the survey.
Highlight results for TEWV included:
