A lead psychologist for local mental health trust, Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV) has been awarded the 2019 Excellence in Forensic Psychology Practice Award by the British Psychological Society Division of Forensic Psychology.
The national award celebrates excellence in forensic psychology practice, recognising success and evidenced based practice with high visibility and impact. Claire Bainbridge, locality lead psychologist for TEWV health and justice service, received the award as a reflection of her work in the field of forensic psychology and with recognition of this achievement by other members of the discipline.
Claire, who was presented with the award at this year’s Division of Forensic Psychology Annual Conference, said “I am truly honoured to receive this award. I am passionate about staff wellbeing and developing a confident skilled workforce that can improve the psychological health of those who come into contact with our services.
“I strongly believe that by providing appropriate care and interventions we can contribute to risk reduction and ultimately help our service users to lead safer, less harmful and healthier lives.”
Lisa Taylor, director of operations for TEWV forensic services said “Claire is dedicated to her field and the Trust. This award is recognition of the hard work undertaken to make sure the users of our service receive an exceptional standard of care and to aid the reduction of risk. Claire is committed to providing the best leadership and support to the service and we are very proud to have Claire in our team”.
