The Westwood Centre is a purpose built, low secure service providing care for young people who are experiencing mental health difficulties. It is based at West Lane Hospital in Middlesbrough.
The centre, which reopened in 2014 following a multi-million pound rebuild, provides the highest quality accommodation, care and treatment for young people aged 12-18 years*.
We cater for young people with specific needs and provision is made for those with physical disabilities. We also accommodate young offenders who require mental health assessment and intervention.
The Westwood Centre offers a safe and comfortable environment where we can assess and treat young people and our specially trained staff provide support 24 hours a day, as well as a range of therapies and treatments. We begin by helping the young person manage their symptons and any risks they face, before moving on to more long term recovery.
Our facilities include 12 ensuite bedrooms, as well as a gym, education room, music room, games room, gardens and lounges.
For more information about the centre you can watch our video.
You can also download our Westwood Centre Welcome Pack (L633).
Young people have to be referred to the Westwood Centre by medical professionals; mental health service professionals or the courts. We accept referrals from across the country, Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm.
