Counting down to Christmas
In December it is traditional to open a door on a calendar each day marking the countdown to Christmas. This tradition is something many of us have adopted and is something we are familiar with seeing in our home, school and work environments.
While Christmas is an exciting, joyous period for many, for others it can be one of the most difficult times of the year. High expectations, financial pressures, family conflict, grief following the death of a loved one and loneliness can all have an impact on our mental wellbeing.
Each day this month we will be issuing social media messages to raise awareness surrounding mental health. Our “calendar” of posts will offer advice, guidance and sign posting information, designed to help people keep well this Christmas.
Colin Martin, chief executive
Colin Martin, chief executive said, “As December begins we want to make sure people have the best Christmas possible. We know that while the demands of the festive period can be exhilarating and fun, the increased pressure they place on us can leave people feeling down and like they have no-one to turn to.
“Our winter messages are designed to remind people that support is available and increase awareness around at risk groups in our communities. We want people to know that they are not alone this Christmas.”
