In light of national guidance to help further prevent the spread of coronavirus, we’re making some temporary changes to visiting our inpatient wards, with effect from Saturday 21 March 2020.
Our priority is to protect our patients and our staff so we’re making the following changes from tomorrow (Saturday 21 March):
Secure in-patient and older people’s wards – visiting will temporarily cease until further notice.
Adult mental health and learning disability wards – visitors are limited to one person, and must be immediate family members and carers.
Visitors should not visit if they are:
- unwell, especially if they have a high temperature or a new, persistent cough
- vulnerable as a result of their medication, a chronic illness or over 70 years of age
Please note we’re asking all visitors to follow the latest hand washing and hygiene guidance to protect everyone at the hospital.
We appreciate that this is a difficult decision but it’s important that we protect the people in our care, as well as our staff. We know keeping in touch with family and friends is important so we’re looking at ways we can offer this including iPads on wards to facilitate ‘virtual’ visiting and friends.
We do not know how long these measures will be in place but we will continue to update you on the situation.
