As a specialist Trust providing mental health, learning disability and eating disorder services we are committed to being recognised as a centre of excellence, providing high quality services that exceed people’s expectations. We know this is not possible without the dedication and hard work of our staff and we want to give staff the support they need to do their job well and to help us pursue this goal.
We aim to be the best employer we can be and to have skilled, motivated staff providing excellent services. We continue to support and develop our staff so that they are able to provide high quality services and we have introduced new ways of working in several services.
Valuing our staff
Our staff are our most important asset and recognising their excellent work and the vital contributions they make to patient care is very important. This can range from a simple ‘thank you’ in our weekly e-bulletin to nominating teams and individuals for one of our annual staff awards.
Disability Confident Scheme
The Trust has signed up to the Disability Confident Scheme which replaces the ‘two ticks’ symbol and is now classed as a Disability Confident Employer. This scheme builds on the best practices of the ‘two ticks’ model whereby the Trust has to demonstrate that it is taking positive action to attract, recruit and retain disabled people
We’re recommended by staff
We carry out the staff Friends and Family Test (FFT) three times a year. This asks staff what they think about the Trust as a place to work and whether they would recommend the Trust to their family and friends as a place to receive treatment.

We invest in your training and development
All staff who join TEWV will be provided with a comprehensive induction programme, starting on their first day of employment with the Trust. [[All our new starters will be welcomed by our chief executive a member of the Board]], and then given the essential information about working at the Trust, including much of the mandatory training required for their role.
Continuous professional development is important to TEWV. Once you are comfortable in your new role, you and your manager will work collaboratively to form a Personal Development Plan (PDP), your personal career aspirations are taken into account and the trust will provide you with the resources you need to develop.
Chartered Institute Management Centre
We are one of only a few NHS Trusts in England to be awarded Chartered Management Institute Centre. This allows us to offer a range of in-house leadership and management qualifications, which are fully accredited by the Chartered Management Institute.
Raising concerns and improving our services
It’s important that our staff feel able to raise concerns about patient safety and let us know when we need to improve services. We have a number of ways in which staff can do this.
Gender pay gap report
The Equality Act 2010 (Specific Duties and Public Authorities) Regulations 2017 introduced a statutory requirement to produce information outlining details of any gender pay differences that exist within an organisation. As from April 2018 public, private and voluntary sector organisations with 250 or more employees were required to report on their gender pay gaps using six different measures.
