Colin Martin has been appointed to lead the Trust when our current chief executive, Martin Barkley, retires from the role at the end of April after eight years with TEWV.
Currently the Trust’s deputy chief executive and director of finance, Colin has over 25 years’ experience working in the NHS and local government. Chair of the Audit North NHS audit consortium, Colin’s career has boasted triumphs including being named HFMA finance director of the year in 2013 and seeing TEWV become the first NHS Trust in the country to buy out of a Private Finance Initiative deal.
Colin said, “I am delighted to have been given this opportunity. I am looking forward to getting started in my new role and building upon the excellent work that is already happening at the Trust.
“The NHS has seen many challenges over the last few years and one of the big strategic issues we face is making sure the Trust remains sustainable, whilst meeting the growing and changing needs of the communities we serve.
“I am committed to continuing to develop and strengthen the services we provide for some of the most vulnerable people in our society”.
Lesley Bessant, Trust chairman said, “I am delighted that Colin has accepted the position of chief executive at the Trust. He was an outstanding candidate and his wealth of experience, both at TEWV and from other organisations will help us to make sure the Trust continues to deliver high quality mental health and learning disability provision for the communities we serve, placing our service users at the heart of everything we do”.
Colin Martin will take up post on 1 May 2016.
