Temporary changes to location of adult inpatient services

Adult inpatient services for Hartlepool and Easington are being provided (on a temporary basis) from Roseberry Park in Middlesbrough and Lanchester Road Hospital in Durham.

Why do we need to do this?

We’ve been working with the company responsible for the buildings at Roseberry Park for some time to try and rectify a significant number of construction defects at the hospital. In addition, in June 2016 we were notified of a number of serious defects to the fire safety systems at the hospital.

We took immediate action to mitigate the risks and to address the safety of service users, staff and visitors while they’re at Roseberry Park. However, these measures are not long term solutions and significant work is required to address the fire safety issues and the other construction defects. The safety of our patients, staff and visitors is our greatest concern and we want to do this as efficiently as possible with the least disruption to service users, their families and staff.

Unfortunately, in order to carry out this work, we need to temporarily move the older people’s inpatient services from Roseberry Park to Sandwell Park in Hartlepool and this means moving adult inpatient services from Sandwell Park.

You can read further information about this in the full briefing

If you have any questions about the move you can contact Tom Hurst, Modern Matron on 01429 285601.
