About the service

Bilsdale is an acute admission ward at Roseberry Park in Middlesbrough catering for males aged between 18 to 65 suffering with a mental illness.

The aim of admission is to establish treatment and provide support throughout the recovery process. Discharge planning is arranged with a package of care in place.

The Bilsdale team includes:

  • Consultant psychiatrist
  • Junior doctor
  • Psychologist
  • Occupational therapy staff
  • Ward manager
  • Staff nurses
  • Physical health nurse
  • Health care assistant
  • Crisis team attend meetings
  • Community team inreach.

How to access the service

All patients are referred to the Trust's crisis team where it is identified if a patient needs to be in hospital. Referral is then made by the crisis team directly to the ward.

About the ward

Bilsdale has the following facilities:

  • 14 beds with en-suite bathrooms
  • Lounge area
  • TV room
  • Dining area - meal times are protected

There is a separate block for activities. Activities that are available include pottery art, cookery, yoga, use of a pool table and musical instruments. There is also a gym with a gym instructor available.

Visiting times

Visiting times on Bilsdale are:

  • 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm
  • 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm.
