About the service

This is a small residential home for five people with learning disabilities and additional support needs. People have support for 24 hours a day from a range of registered and unregistered nurses.

The purpose built bungalow provides each person with an ensuite bedroom and is fully adapted to meet the needs of people with a physical disability. Two of the bedrooms have direct access to a specialist bathroom suite that includes overhead track hoisting.

A large dining room leads on to a spacious and enclosed garden. There are two lounges, one of which is also used for activities, including light and sound.

The house is run very much on as near to family principles as is practical.

People have their bedrooms decorated according to their personal style and choices.

Meal times are very important to people and home cooking features largely in daily life.

The people who live in the house access a range of local shops and facilities with staff support. They take regular individual holidays and outings within the local community.

People have individualised plans of care that enable their independence and ensure their health and wellbeing.

The team

The house is staffed around the needs of the individuals and when no one is home through the day there are no staff in the house.

There are registered and unregistered nurses, with each person having a named nurse and key worker.

A house keeper ensures the house is very well kept and nursing staff can focus on supporting people.

How to access the service

The people who live in the house have done so for a number of years, with no plans to move on.

If a vacancy did occur then the local care management team would make a referral to the service.

The manager would consider the needs of the new person and also their compatibility with the people already in the house.
