About the service
The community intervention team provides a service to people with severe and persistent mental disorders, for example psychosis and severe personality disorder with associated perceptual disturbances.
The community intervention team is able to provide:
- Expert assessment of mental health problems and involve the carer and family where appropriate
- Effective evidence based treatment
- Assistance to clients in accessing support both to reduce distress and maximise personal development to live a productive a life as possible
- Advice and support to carers and families.
The team
The team consists of a number of different disciplines including:
- Doctors
- Clinical psychologist
- Nurses
- Occupational therapists
- Social workers
- Support workers
- Nurse consultant
- Team manager.
How to access the service
Referrals are received from a variety of sources.
When someone is accepted into the service a process of assessment takes place. This includes an appointment with a medical member of staff and a clinical psychologist, as well as a number of assessments to support a recovery focussed formulation, determining the outcome of treatment and future care needs.
